Best in Show - Review

This wonderful “mockumentary” about the weird creatures that frequent pedigree dog shows makes it totally clear from the outset that it is the humans who are really the ones on display.

The poor canines just get to look on with a resigned bemusement as their owners become increasingly unhinged in their quest to secure the top prize for their perfect pooches.

From the lovably geeky Flecks to the psychotic yuppie Swans, the characters are both horrible caricatures and painfully human.

Top prize, however, must go to Fred Willard as clueless commentator Buck Laughlin, whose staggeringly ill-informed and inappropriate remarks – “And to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten” - will induce howls of laughter.
