The best action thriller of the past year succeeds on the small screen just as well as it did in the multiplexes, with the action sequences seeming even more oppressive as Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne fights his way to the truth through corridors, crowded streets and car parks.
This is unbeatable entertainment for adults. Uncompromisingly brutal with violence erupting and dying in an instant, tensions simmer in the menacingly sparse dialogue, each line relished by a superb cast of character actors, including David Strathairn, Joan Allen, Paddy Considine and Scott Glenn.
However, the greatest plaudits must go to the director Paul Greengrass, who employs the same restless camera technique that worked so memorably in United 93 to create an exhilarating, exhausting and utterly enthralling movie experience.
